The Streaming Platform to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent action-packed title that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for delighting in action and madness with similar glee, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that FX's new order for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two producers whose work have exemplified all of those things.
What to Expect
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' structure by introducing a different setting and cast of characters in each season.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the creator.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX team constantly supports me with their steady confidence and assistance.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology series. Every instalment is a interpretation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this multifaceted and unpredictable lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to partner with Rob and introduce our common unconventional, daring sensibility to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
