The Manager's Stance on Celtic

The Ipswich boss referred to the Glasgow giants as "a really big football club" but stressed he is "deeply involved" of a "long-term project" with the Championship side.

The 39-year-old assumed control of Portman Road in 2021 and guided the team to the English top flight with back-to-back promotions, but they won just four games last campaign as they were relegated back to the Championship and they currently sit 12th in England's second tier.

"I have not had such discussions," the London-born ex- Northern Ireland young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"This isn't a matter I have given any thought to, or where any portion of my focus is this week.

"I possess a unique position here at a special team. And we're at a really important phase of the season. Anything outside of that hasn't touched my awareness."

Background and Agreement Aspects

Reports indicate that the manager would be open to speaking to Celtic given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when questioned about those. "It's unlikely everyone has to publicly and announce what they were, but of course it's a massive sports organization."

McKenna signed a fresh four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his reported buyout clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he replied. "I don't know what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you regardless!

"I tackle this role like I will remain Town's coach forever. I understand that's not always going to be the case, but I'll always give maximum effort as while I am here."

Bellamy's Position

Bellamy represented the Hoops on temporary transfer from Newcastle United in 2005, but the former Wales forward is inclined to complete the current global tournament qualification, a position that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from assuming the Celtic job.

Wales are currently in third place in their World Cup group behind group toppers Belgium and second-placed North Macedonia.

Victories over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in November would book their position in the final qualifying round, but they are virtually guaranteed of making those, thanks to a successful Nations League performance, should they not end up Group J second place.

Considering his present stance, Bellamy, whose contract concludes after the European Championship, would be unavailable until following the qualifying matches at the minimum.
