Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
